Honored by the PDCA for its faux finishing and safety precautions
CHICAGO (February 16, 2006) -- With the Oscars quickly approaching and the Grammys the hot topic of celebrity magazines, it’s clear that award season is in full swing – and Hester Painting & Decorating is in on the action. The painting, wall covering installation and faux-finishing company based in Chicago was recently honored with two awards from The Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA). Dedicated to safety in the workplace, Hester Painting & Decorating took home the PDCA Safety Achievement Award. Known for its high quality faux-finishing, Hester Painting & Decorating also was celebrated by the Picture It Painted Professional (PIPP) Awards for its work on a 3,200 square-foot home in Wilmette, Ill.
Hester Painting & Decorating holds safety in high regard – both for its clients and its employees. As a winner of the PDCA Safety Achievement Award, Hester Painting & Decorating was recognized for such feats as its commitment to safety, its safety training program and its hazard control methods.
“Safety is second nature at Hester Painting & Decorating. It’s part of every project – from ladder and scaffold safety to testing old paint for lead to handling dust and fumes. Our clients and employees know safety is a priority,” said Jeff Hester, suburban superintendent and estimator.
Also recognized for its achievements in residential faux finishing and painting with the PIPP award, Hester Painting & Decorating transformed more than 75 percent of a 40-year-old, rehabbed residence. Despite a tight timeline – one month with a four-man crew working full-time – Hester Painting & Decorating used such specialty techniques and finishes as wood graining, Venetian plaster, over-glazing furniture, texturing, staining and mottle glazing to create this award-winning look.
“From the faux wood grain mantle finished to match my new kitchen cabinets to my son’s Chicago Cubs mural on his bedroom wall – Hester Painting & Decorating can do it all. Each room is an example of Hester’s creativity, attention to detail and inventiveness,” said the Wilmette, Ill., homeowner.
