CHICAGO (Nov. 3, 2009) – Hester Painting & Decorating has a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. The family owned and operated company, based in Skokie, Ill., has raised a total of $13,640 this fall for the Alzheimer’s Association – the second highest total in the company’s history of support for the association’s annual Memory Walk.
The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk took place on Sunday, Sept. 12, under sunny skies along Lake Michigan. The Hester Painting & Decorating team was among more than 4,000 participants – all walking for to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
“My grandmother had Alzheimer’s, so I was very touched to see so many people from our company and people from the Chicago region come out and support this cause,” said company president Steve Hester.
In addition to collecting donations, Hester promised to contribute $200 for every renovation project that began in the month of September and exceeded $2,000 in value. The company also vowed to match customer donations and triple employee contributions up to $500.
“We were able to make one of the largest contributions in our organization’s history at the Memory Walk this year,” said Hester. “And it’s thanks to the generosity of our customers, employees and friends.”
