HESTER PRESIDENT ELECTED TO SERVE ON BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR THE PAINTING AND DECORATING CONTRACTORS OF AMERICA
SKOKIE, Ill. (Jan.26, 2010) – The Board of Directors of the Painting and Decorating Contractors of America recently announced Steve Hester, president of Skokie-based Hester Painting & Decorating, has been voted to the board by members of the Central Region. Hester’s two-year term begins on Feb. 6, 2010.
“When my father started the business, he hoped that Hester Painting & Decorating would be known as ‘the best painting contractor around,’” said Hester. “The PDCA members are – without a doubt – the top professionals in our industry, so I’m thrilled to be working with the board to serve our fellow contractors – providing them with resources for improving their business and craftsmanship.”
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in real estate finance from the University of Miami, Steve spent six years working in real estate management at Heitman Financial Services in Chicago. Later, Steve joined his father, Tom Hester, in the family business. While serving as manager and vice president for several years, Steve earned an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Steve took the helm as president of Hester Painting & Decorating in 2006, working alongside his brother, vice president Jeff Hester a.k.a. “Professor Paint.”
“Steve not only oversees our company strategy and business development, but he is also a driving force behind our philanthropic efforts,” said Jeff Hester. “The company has participated in the Alzheimer’s Association’s Memory Walk for four years in a row now. He encourages excellence from Hester employees on professional level and a personal level, too. He will make an outstanding addition to the PDCA Board of Directors.”
