HESTER PAINTING & DECORATING EMPLOYEE HONORED
WITH TOP INDUSTRY AWARD
SKOKIE, Ill. (Jan. 27, 2010) -- Painting and Decorating Contractors of America (PDCA) named Nick Pasquale, a 16-year employee of Hester Painting & Decorating, as the 2009 Craftsman of the Year. PDCA will present Pasquale with the award Feb. 8, 2010, at the annual PACE (Paint and Coatings Expo) Convention.
Pasquale, who has been in the industry for more than twenty years, was nominated by Jeff Hester, vice president of Hester Painting & Decorating, based on a number of factors. Said Hester, “While Nick is a forerunner in craftsmanship, he is more importantly a leader and a mentor to the painters in our company. He shares his knowledge and technique with anyone who is looking to excel in the field.”
Pasquale’s effort to educate himself has gone beyond his work. Pasquale enrolled in art classes to better understand color and finishes, and he took time out of his daily schedule to attend the Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee (JATC) safety classes.
PDCA awarded Pasquale with the honor based on 11 categories, which include the ability to understand the paint and other materials, knowledge of applications, mastery of tools, overall professionalism and unique execution.
In addition to Pasquale’s Craftsman of the Year Award, Hester Painting & Decorating received its eleventh PDCA Picture It Painted Professionally (PIPP) Award for its charity project at The CoACH Care Center in Naperville, Ill. A Hester team volunteered time and supplies to help improve and update the Center’s facilities, which house medically unstable children during their transition from the hospital to long-term care at home.
